Abstract
Abstract Research on the Effect of Combination of Goat Manure with Urea Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield of Sweet Corn (Zea mays sacharata Sturt) was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University from June to September 2011. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of a combination of goat manure and urea fertilizer on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) This experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The observation data were analyzed by the F test, if the calculated F of the treatment was greater than the F Table with a level of 5% then it would be continued with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). The treatments given were: without giving urea fertilizer and goat manure (Control); 100% goat manure, 75% goat manure + 25% urea fertilizer, goat manure and urea fertilizer @ 50%, 25% goat manure + 75% urea fertilizer, and 100% urea fertilizer. Observed variables include: plant height, number of leaves, number of cobs, and cob yield per plot and per hectare. The results showed that goat manure can substitute urea fertilizer up to 100%, which can be seen from the treatment of 100% goat manure which showed no significant difference with the treatment of 100% urea fertilizer. Keywords: Sweet corn plants, goat manure and urea fertilizer
