Abstract

The aim of this study to measure the toxicity level of matoa (Pometia pinnata Forst & Forst) extracts using brine shrimp lethality test (BSLT) and evaluated of cytotoxicity the isolated compound from nhexane extract against murine leukemia (P388) cell line using a tetrazolium-based colorimetric celluler assay. The isolated compound were identified as taraxerone based on spectroscopic data and compared with literature. The toxicity test of extracts showed that the n-hexane extract have the highest activity with LC50 of 33,10 µg/mL. Although the taraxerone showed the high activity against Artemia salina with LC50 20,10 µg/mL, but this compound did not exhibited toxicity against murine leukemia (P388) with IC50 121,83 µg/mL.
