Abstract

This article discusses the concepts and results of research on the development of the region, the concept and the results of research on integrated farming systems, the importance of regional development based integrated farming system, and the implementation of an integrated farming system of rice crops and cattle. Regional development is very important to encourage the agriculture development, because regional development aims to improve the lives of people such as increasing revenue, increase value-added of processing industry and create employment opportunities. Implementation of integrated farming systems in regional development is very important and can be a solution to the various problems that arise in the regional development during this time, because the integrated farming system has many usages and advantages and benefits in line with the objectives of the regional development which is to improve the society welfare. Implementation of the system integration paddy-cattle (SIPT) is able to provide benefits for the use of manure that can improve productivity, reduce production costs and increase farmers' income. The revenue contribution of SIPT against total income of farmer’s households is quite high. Then SIPT can also optimize the utilization of local resources such as the use of straw as animal feed and cattle feces as organic fertilizer, so no waste is wasted.
