Abstract

Indonesia a very important position as the largest gambier producer in the world by supplying 80% of the world's gambier utility. West Sumatra Province is the center of gambier exporter in Indonesia. The largest yield of gambier production in West Sumatra is in Lima Puluh Kota District with an average yield of gambier production is 9,459.62 tons/year. This study is focused on lime subdistrict IX as a gambier-producing center in Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The objectives of this study are (1) to identify the structure of the gambier commodity market in Kapur IX District, Lima Puluh Kota District (2) to identify the market conduct gambier commodity in Kapur IX District, Lima Puluh Kota District (3) to determine market performance in Kapur IX District, Lima Puluh Kota District. According to the SCP (structure conduct Performance) approach. The results showed that the market structure of gambier is oligopsonistic, and the majority of single marketing institutions determine the price of gambier. In this study there are two marketing channels. the first marketing channel (farmers-village collectors-wholesalers) the second marketing channel (farmers-wholesalers) and the last farmers-village collectors-wholesalers) Where the third marketing channel has the highest total marketing margin. The second marketing channel is the channel most widely used by farmers in marketing gambier. The analysis of the gambier market performance in Lime District IX shows that the second marketing channel has the smallest total marketing margin, causing Farmer's share received by farmers is quite high.
