Abstract

West Sumatra is a province that still has many sources of local rice germplasm. It has been cultivated by the farmers from generation to generation because of taste preferences that are more in line with people's tastes and good adaptability. However, on the other hand, the age of the plant still limits local rice production. Genetic improvement is carried out through induced mutations, especially in accelerating the age of plants. From the selection conducted on the M2 population, 109 early maturing candidates for Junjung cultivar and 9 early maturing candidates for Kuriak Kusuik cultivar were obtained with mutant frequencies of 0.18% and 0.03% respectively
