Abstract

West Sumatra is one of the provinces that still has many sources of local rice germplasm. This local rice has been cultivated by the community for generations because of its taste preferences which are more in line with people's tastes and its good adaptability. However, on the other hand the plant's age which is still in it still limits the local rice production. Genetic improvement is carried out through induced mutations, especially in accelerating the age of plants. From the selection conducted on the M2 population, 109 early maturing candidates for Junjung cultivar and 9 early maturing candidates for Kuriak Kusuik cultivar were obtained with mutant frequencies of 0.18% and 0.03% respectively.
